Children's Programs

The Selwyn Public Library offers programs for children of all ages. 

Below is a list of all the programs for children that are currently offered by the Selwyn Public Library.

Join us for songs, stories, games, instrument play and more for you and your little one.

Dates: Begins Thursday, September 11 for eight weeks
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Register for Babytime

We’re offering eight weeks of fun with songs, stories, instruments and teddy play for your little wild child. Program is followed by a 30-minute play and social time.

Dates: Begins Tuesday, September 9 for eight weeks.
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Location: Lakefield

Register for Toddlertime

 

Kathleen and Corny the Squirrel can’t wait to take you on a journey through 8 weeks of stories, songs, drama, instrument play, and more! Each program is based on developing the 6 early literacy skills. Each week this program wraps up a fun craft that extends the story and builds fine motor skills.

Dates: Begins Wednesday, September 10 for eight weeks
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Celebrate Halloween with your little pumpkin by joining us for a party! Games, simple crafts, and play stations, followed by a story and song circle.

Date: Friday, October 31

Engaging stories, songs, games, instruments and crafts for your school age child. One Saturday per month. Pick the dates you can attend:

Good Morning, Bad Art—PA Day Edition
Create a piece of “bad art” using our wacky art supplies, then join our “Best Bad Art Exhibit” for a chance to win the title! Children attend with a caregiver.

Join us monthly for stories, songs, and finger plays the whole family can enjoy.

Lakefield, one Tuesday per month. We will shape the programs for the year at our first meeting.
Dates: Tuesdays – October 7, November 4, December 9, January 13, February 10, March 10, April 7
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Register for Homeschool Connect

Mark your calendar to visit our tent at the Pride Picnic beside the Lakefield Library (Cenotaph Park). Amongst the fun, we will give out free craft kits for all ages and host a Storywalk and scavenger hunt in the park.

Read Together Book Club

For children ages 9 to 12 with their adult reading partner.

Share great books and meaningful conversations in this monthly book club for kids ages 9-12 and their caregiver. Each month we’ll read a new title and come together for a relaxed discussion and activities. All reading levels welcome.
Dates: Once a month on Thursdays
September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Pick up your colouring sheet in-branch, or register to have a sheet emailed to you. Colour your sheet for a chance to win a small prize in our draw. Email Kathleen for a colouring sheet

Register to receive a bag of library material on various learning topics at your children’s levels.  Includes “learn to read bags, theme investigations and  the opportunity to choose your own topic.
