Makerspace Programs

Current Programs

The Needlework Group with the Makerspace is a place and time to gather, work on independent projects, socialize, and support each other. Knitting, crochet, and cross-stich welcome. No formal teaching is being provided.

Needlework Group will meet:
First Tuesday of the month 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (drop-in)
First Wednesday of the month 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (drop-in)

September Dates:
Tuesday, September 2: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 3: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Makerspace will be a vendor at the Lakefield Farmers’ Market a number of times over the summer. Each visit we will have a collection of items for sale that have been made in the Makerspace by volunteers and staff. Proceeds support programming in the Makerspace.

The Makerspace will be open for drop-in tours and independent machine bookings. Machine bookings can be made by phone 705 651-8601 or by email to makerspace@mypublicibrary.ca.

This is a beginner class for anyone interested in learning more about the embroidery machine and how to use it. No sewing skills are required.

Register for Embroidery 101

Do you miss watching your home videos? Join us for this one-hour class and learn how to digitize your home videos at the Makerspace. Following class, participants can book time to start their own digitizing projects.

Once your home video is digitized, it will be saved onto a USB as an .MP4 file that you can watch on a smart TV, laptop, tablet, or iPad. Digitizing VHS is by donation.

We are excited to have Megan Cole back to the SPL Makerspace. This time, she will be teaching us the skills and techniques of hand pottery to make a pair of mugs. Please note: this is a two-night program.

Dates: Thursday, September 18 and Thursday, September 25
Time: 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $50

This program is currently full.

 

 

Join us for a day and learn how to make your own round basket using coloured reeds. No experience is required. This is an October/November program, but registration and payment are due in September.
